ARTIST PROFILE

Hey! I'm Radhicka, and this is my journey.

I started out in the world of ‘Rx' Records as a pharmacist who had abandoned the artist in her that had occupied most of my childhood. In the year 2020, everything changed when I picked up the brush to paint on canvas. My very first painting after that long pause was a tiger titled “Edan-the fiery one," a painting that rekindled the artist in me, and there was no going back. I was fascinated by art and switched up my life to explore the power of colours and their immaculate blend in nature.

An artist’s paraphernalia dictates their art’s prowess. Therefore, I don’t restrict my choices to just acrylics; I also experiment with materials like clay, resin, faux fur, metal, gold foil, etc. to accentuate the distinctive appearance of my artwork and deliver subdued messages. My medium of choice to bring life into painting are acrylic paints because of their versatility and the added advantage of retouching to cover up any little oopsies that may occur. But I also work with charcoal and watercolours and have been keen on working with whatever I have in hand ever since my childhood due to my deep-rooted interest in art, nature, and education. I primarily paint in a hyper-realistic way, trying to catch every last detail to give my subject greater impact. My genre of paintings belongs to the class of hyperrealism, an extraordinary intersection of art and reality where the artist's skills can trick the viewers into questioning reality. I use myriad of patterns, colours, and textures found in nature to bring my paintings to life.
My artwork explores the primal tendencies shared by wildlife and humans and, importantly, brings light to the disappearing flora and fauna. A staple in my paintings is the theme of glow-in-dark eyes in the subjects that evoke direct conversations with the viewer and convey my intended thoughts.
I live a life that has taught me to love learning. This has allowed me to broaden my base of knowledge from pharmacy to cosmetology, makeup, and interior design. I have travelled and experienced life and work in a variety of cities, from Mumbai to Boston, Los Angeles as well as Toronto. And all this has laid wonderful foundations for my art projects. I have inculcated my past and translated my various experiences and insights into my various projects, which have helped me to communicate with people worldwide about issues that are important to us all as human beings. Currently I work from my studio based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, called "Radz Art Studio," and intend to travel to new places every now and then, thereby letting me live my passion to the fullest by working on projects and conducting paint parties.
I've received a number of awards and recognitions, including first place in Painting at the 62nd Gujarat State Lalitkala Academy Art Competition/Exhibition 2022—India, and others that have inspired and fuelled my journey thus far. Art is the best way to communicate emotions and feelings, and I want my paintings to inspire artists to wield their brushes to create magic and experience the spirit it lends.
As an artist, it's simply the joy of sharing my creations with you that is the most fulfilling emotion. a little nudge to provoke a relatable experience in us humans and to see that in the larger scheme of life: where we came from, where we are, and where we are headed. It is this thought that has motivated me to bring "Wildlife in Hyperrealism"—A solo art show—in your midst. There are 15 paintings, all presented in the unique style of hyperrealism that has phenomenally captured the best of wildlife’s wonders. The paintings strongly convey topics of cardinal importance such as endangerment, primal emotions, diversity, etc. This exhibition is an invitation to get to know the artist in me and the voice that lends through my paintings. This exhibition is even more special to me as it’s my first art show ever, and as an independent organiser and a self-taught artist who has mastered the various techniques with which I work, this exhibition is my carpe diem. Cheers to the beginning of this beautiful journey!
